Becca Grommesh is a full-time, on-staff speech-language pathologist (SLP) who sees patients in the hospital as well as on an outpatient basis.

As a speech pathologist, Becca provides care for a variety of conditions, ranging from vocal pathologies and swallowing difficulties to speech, language, and cognitive-communication deficits after neurological trauma or degeneration. She is also a classically trained singer, which gives her special insight into the power of the human voice.

Becca’s goal is to help patients eat the foods they love by eliminating swallowing challenges, regaining their vocal independence, and communicating to the fullest extent possible. Taking the time to get to know a patient’s needs, goals, and preferences, she develops a treatment plan that prioritizes their specific lifestyle.

“Giving patients the agency to choose their own diet and be understood by others is crucial,” she said.

Becca completed her undergraduate degree at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, where she also double-majored in music. Becca completed her master’s degree at the State University of New York (SUNY) Fredonia.

When she isn’t helping patients, Becca enjoys singing, playing the cello, and reading fantasy and true crime books.
