General Surgery
When you need surgery, it’s comforting to know that you can have your surgical procedure performed close to home at Samaritan Healthcare. Our full-time, on-staff surgeons in our General Surgery department specialize in diagnosing and surgically treating a wide range of medical conditions that require scheduled, urgent, or emergency surgery.
Thomas Tuszynski, MD is Samaritan’s general surgeon with many years of experience. His extensive training and expertise led him to specialize in general surgeries allowing patients to receive procedures without needing to travel.
Dr. Andrea Matson, Dr. Jordan Smith, and Dr. Tuszynski, perform the full range of surgical procedures including hernia surgery, gall bladder removal, and endoscopies. They are all highly skilled and trained in a variety of techniques—including traditional and minimally invasive surgeries—to perform procedures for both common and complex conditions. The three surgeons also provide total patient care throughout a patient’s surgical experience—from clinic appointments and initial diagnosis, to performing surgery, and their progress through recovery.
They enjoy talking to patients and putting them at ease, even while discussing the surgery they need to become well or that will assist them in having a healthier life.
Dr. Tuszynski earned his doctor of medicine (MD) degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, became Chief Resident of General Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by promotion to Chief Resident of Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Matson and Dr. Smith have several years of combined experience as surgeons at Samaritan, as well as performing a wide variety of surgical procedures during their five-year General Surgery residencies at Mountain Vista Medical Center–Steward Health Care in Mesa, Arizona.
