Joe Hancock is a physician assistant on the orthopaedics team. He works closely with orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Leo Chough, and sports medicine physician, Dr. Brett DeGooyer, to provide care for patients.

Joe was led to pursue orthopaedics from the beginning of his goal of becoming a physician assistant—driven by his personal experiences with injuries and a love for sports. His passion and expertise lie in the intricate workings of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones, with a focus on functional movement and mechanisms of injury. Joe also speaks Spanish, which allows him to bridge possible language barriers for patients and their families.

Joe knows the importance of developing connections with his patients to earn their trust. His own experiences with injuries have provided valuable insights into the challenges and emotions faced by patients. He enjoys being a team member in orthopaedics, as they work together to help patients overcome physical challenges and regain their quality of life.

When he’s away from the clinic, Joe loves to barbeque and cook. He especially enjoys anything outdoors, from basketball and pickleball, hiking, or hitting the lake with kayaks or paddleboards. He’s also excited about the sand dunes!
