Dr. James Bolland is a nocturnist at Samaritan Hospital. As a nocturnist, he provides overnight medical care for those who have been admitted to the hospital as inpatients. Dr. Bolland enjoys providing care for all ages—from infants to elders—interacting with them and learning more about their diagnosis. In coordinating overnight care, he works closely with the daytime hospitalist physicians, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, and others as needed to formulate a comprehensive care plan.

Dr. Bolland is the former medical director of Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. His family members live in England, so when he is not caring for patients, he enjoys working out, and hiking to photograph local landscapes, animals, and wildlife. He also appreciates good food and craft beer.
