Dr. Erik Arnits first became interested in Emergency Medicine after college, while working as a scribe—transcribing information from clinical visits into electronic health records. After medical school, he served his Emergency Residency at Spectrum Health-Lakeland in Michigan. Now he loves being a part of building strong emergency care at Samaritan—providing growth in quality and compassionate care for the community.

The variety of diseases or injuries that come in to Samaritan’s Emergency Department (ED) keeps Dr. Arnits “on his toes,” and keeps him from becoming stagnant in his profession. He also appreciates the opportunity to help people when they are potentially at their sickest, with a chance to make a difference at this stage of their lives. His approach to working at the ED is to provide compassionate, kind, and efficient care—while making sure the patient’s medical concerns are addressed and that any life-threatening disease is handled with diligence.

Dr. Arnits grew up in Washington and enjoys hiking and camping across the Pacific Northwest—exploring new towns with his family—as well as fishing, mountain biking, and alpine skiing in the winter.
