Carter Newey, DO, is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (also known as Physiatry) with the Pain Management team at Samaritan Healthcare. Dr. Newey’s non-surgical and patient-centered approach helps patients whose function and activities may be limited by pain, weakness, paresthesia, or other conditions. He provides treatments for a wide range of disorders or disabilities, especially those related to the nervous system, muscles, and bones.

Dr. Newey considers factors that affect patients’ physical function, including activities of daily living, durable medical equipment needs, and occupational or recreational circumstances. He enjoys helping his patients improve their activity and achieve a higher quality of life. He also speaks Spanish fluently which helps cross language barriers for some patients.

As a physiatrist, Dr. Newey provides care using a holistic understanding of a patient’s condition while partnering with his patients and their healthcare providers to guide the treatment plan. Depending on patients’ needs, management may include nerve and muscle testing (electrodiagnostics), musculoskeletal ultrasound, injections (joint, botulinum toxin, or trigger point), manual therapy, outpatient rehabilitation (physical, occupational, or speech therapy), medications, and more.

When he’s not providing care for patients, Dr. Newey enjoys spending time with his family both indoors and outdoors, with activities including board games, sports, camping, and skiing.
