Samaritan Healthcare is pleased to announce that Joe Hancock, PA-C, has joined our orthopaedic team and will work closely with orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Leo Chough, and sports medicine physician, Dr. Brett DeGooyer, to provide care for patients.
From the onset of his goal of becoming a physician assistant, and driven by his personal experiences with injuries and a love for sports, Joe was led to pursue orthopaedics. His passion and expertise lie in the intricate workings of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones, with a focus on functional movement and mechanisms of injury. He also knows the importance of developing connections with his patients to earn their trust.
“Providing compassionate care is at the heart of my approach to patient care,” said Joe. “I know how important it is to build a trusting relationship with patients and to help them feel comfortable, especially when they are facing uncertain or painful situations. By first establishing trust, I can then address their concerns and provide the highest level of care.”
Joe Hancock earned his master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona. His orthopaedic trauma rotation was also performed in Glendale with Sonoran Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in exercise science with emphasis in exercise physiology, muscular anatomy, injury rehabilitation, and a minor in gerontology. He also served as the Spanish translator for medical personnel on a humanitarian trip to Guatemala.
“I have experienced numerous injuries myself, but I view these setbacks as blessings in disguise,” said Joe. “My experiences have provided valuable insights into the challenges and emotions that patients face. I look forward to participating with the orthopaedic team, as together we can help patients overcome physical challenges and regain their quality of life.”
In addition to his medical expertise, Joe is also fluent in Spanish. This allows him to bridge language barriers and provide personalized care to a wider range of patients—reflecting his commitment to inclusivity and helping to ensure that all patients receive the medical attention and healthcare they deserve.
