At the March 19, 2009, the Board of Commissioners appointed Andrew Bair as the new President and CEO of Grant County Hospital District #1, doing business as Samaritan Healthcare. He will replace John White, CEO since 2004, who has resigned to take a similar position at North Hawaii Medical Center.

The change of leadership comes at an exciting time for Samaritan. The hospital district, formed in 1947 by residents of Grant County, has grown to become a potent force throughout healthcare in the Columbia Basin. Samaritan is the sixth largest employer in Grant County, with 532 employees and an active medical staff of 60.

When asked what goals Andrew has for Samaritan, he replied, “We must continue to build and maintain strong relationships with the entire healthcare community to achieve the goal of providing exceptional care to the citizens and visitors of Grant County. I believe that great healthcare is intentional and takes immense effort on the part of the entire healthcare team. Internal relationships are also critical to delivering great excellent care. I believe how we treat each other matters for morale and for quality of care and this idea will continue to be an area of focus.”

Andrew and his wife, Robin, have four grown children. They have lived in Moses Lake since 2005.
