About Us

Community Outreach

Providing education and support for our patients and our community is a major part of Samaritan Healthcare’s mission. Each year, we reach out to thousands of people through educational activities, community partnerships and wellness services for the entire family.

Speakers' Bureau

Local organizations regularly use the hospital’s Speakers' Bureau. The bureau consists of health care providers, medical staff and employees who are available to speak to your organization on a wide range of topics related to health care.

Those seeking a speaker may include:

  • Civic groups.
  • Social organizations.
  • School staff.
  • Parent groups.
  • Senior groups.
  • Service clubs.
  • Church groups.
  • Support groups.
  • Business organizations.

Annual Community Health Fair

Each fall, Samaritan hosts a community health fair in cooperation with other health care organizations in Moses Lake. The health fair is free to the public and features educational booths on such topics as blood donation, childbirth classes, diabetes, mammography and smoking cessation.

Free screenings are also a part of the community health fair. Screenings can include bone density, diabetes, blood pressure, body fat percentage, oxygen saturation, basic eye screening and foot health.

In addition, a low-cost blood screening is available for those wishing to “know their numbers” to improve their heart health. With the help of grants and subsidies, these blood tests are offered at largely discounted prices.

Community Activities

Samaritan employees sponsor and participate in annual events that improve the quality of life for Grant County residents. These include

  • Adams/Grant counties Relay for Life run.
  • Hospital and physician clinic tours.
  • Moses Lake School District job shadowing program.
  • Samaritan Annual Turkey Drive.
  • Samaritan Foundation Annual Golf Tournament.

The library includes four computer stations with Internet access. Books and videos on a variety of subjects are also available and can be reviewed in the library or checked out, free of charge.
